Carlo Sabajno

Carlo Sabajno

Italian Conductor and Opera Recording Pioneer

Carlo Sabajno was an Italian conductor and a significant figure in the history of recorded classical music. He was born on December 16, 1874, in Rosasco, Italy, and passed away on August 11, 1938. Sabajno is particularly noted for his work with the Gramophone Company, later known as His Master's Voice (HMV). During his tenure with HMV, he conducted the first complete recordings of many operas, including Giuseppe Verdi's "Aida" and "Requiem," which were groundbreaking at the time due to the technical limitations of recording equipment.
