Bud Shank

Bud Shank

Jazz Saxophonist and Flutist

Bud Shank was an American alto saxophonist and flautist with a career that spanned several decades, beginning in the 1940s. He was a prominent figure in the West Coast jazz scene and is known for his work with both small ensembles and large orchestras. Shank was part of the Stan Kenton orchestra before forming his own groups. Throughout his career, he explored various genres, including bossa nova, with his album "Brazilliance" being particularly notable. Shank also worked as a studio musician, contributing to numerous film scores and recordings. His versatility as an artist allowed him to adapt to different styles over the years, from cool jazz to more contemporary sounds. He continued to perform and record music until his death in 2009.
