Pioneering Hip-Hop Group from the Bronx

Boogie Down Productions (BDP) was a seminal hip-hop group that emerged from the South Bronx, New York City in the mid-1980s. The group was originally composed of KRS-One (Lawrence Parker), DJ Scott La Rock (Scott Sterling), and D-Nice (Derrick Jones). They are widely regarded as one of the most important and influential acts in the history of hip-hop music. BDP's music is known for its social commentary and has been associated with pioneering the fusion of dancehall reggae into hip-hop.
