Bob van Asperen is a renowned Dutch harpsichordist, organist, conductor, and music pedagogue, specializing in Baroque music. Born on October 8, 1947, in Amsterdam, he has established himself as an authority on early music performance and interpretation. Van Asperen studied organ and harpsichord at the Amsterdam Conservatory and furthered his education with Gustav Leonhardt, a pivotal figure in the early music revival. Throughout his career, van Asperen has recorded extensively, contributing to the appreciation of Baroque keyboard works through his performances and scholarly research. His discography includes a wide range of solo recordings for harpsichord and organ as well as chamber music collaborations. He has also been involved in teaching, passing on his expertise to new generations of musicians at institutions such as the Royal Conservatory of The Hague. His contributions to the field have been recognized with various awards and accolades over the years.
