Blue Ridge Rangers

Blue Ridge Rangers

John Fogertys Country Rock Alter Ego

The Blue Ridge Rangers is not a band in the traditional sense but rather a solo project by John Fogerty, the lead singer and lead guitarist of the rock band Creedence Clearwater Revival (CCR). After CCR disbanded in 1972, Fogerty embarked on his solo career and released "The Blue Ridge Rangers" as his debut solo album in 1973. On this album, Fogerty covered a selection of country and gospel songs, playing all the instruments himself. It was a stylistic departure from the rock sound that had made CCR famous. The album included the hit single "Jambalaya (On The Bayou)," which showcased Fogerty's love for roots music and his versatility as a musician. While "Hearts of Stone" was another track from the same album, it did not achieve the same level of commercial success as "Jambalaya." The Blue Ridge Rangers project allowed Fogerty to explore different musical styles and demonstrated his ability to single-handedly create an album that resonated with fans of American roots music.
