Bill Frisell

Innovative Jazz Guitar Virtuoso

Bill Frisell is an American guitarist, composer, and arranger known for his eclectic approach to music, which integrates elements of jazz, folk, country, and rock. Born on March 18, 1951, in Baltimore, Maryland, Frisell grew up in Denver, Colorado. He studied music at the University of Northern Colorado before attending the Berklee College of Music in Boston. Frisell's career began to gain significant momentum in the 1980s when he became a key figure in New York's downtown jazz scene. He has collaborated with a wide range of musicians and has been a part of many ensembles, including the Paul Motian Trio, John Zorn's Naked City, and Marc Johnson's Bass Desires.
