Barrington Pheloung was an Australian composer best known for his work on television soundtracks, particularly the music for the British TV series "Inspector Morse," which aired from 1987 to 2000. His distinctive style often incorporated complex orchestral arrangements and a keen sense of drama, which became synonymous with the series. Pheloung's work on "Inspector Morse" not only garnered him significant acclaim but also led to his scoring its sequels, "Lewis" and the prequel series "Endeavour." Beyond television, he composed for films and the stage. His contributions to the arts were recognized when he was appointed a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) in 1994 for his services to music.
