Ars Rediviva Ensemble

Ars Rediviva Ensemble

Czech Baroque Music Ensemble

The Ars Rediviva Ensemble was a Czechoslovakian chamber group founded in Prague in 1951 by flautist Milan Munclinger and his wife, pianist Viktorie Švihlíková. The ensemble specialized in the interpretation of Baroque music, particularly the works of Johann Sebastian Bach. They were known for their historically informed performances at a time when the early music revival was gaining momentum in Europe. The group's name, "Ars Rediviva," which means "revived art," reflects their dedication to bringing old music back to life with an approach that sought to be as authentic as possible, given the understanding and resources of the time.
