André-Joseph Exaudet

André-Joseph Exaudet

18th-Century French Violinist and Composer

André-Joseph Exaudet (1710-1762) was a French violinist and composer during the Baroque period. Although not as widely recognized as some of his contemporaries, Exaudet made contributions to the early development of the violin concerto in France. He served as a violinist at the Académie Royale de Musique, which was a prestigious position that reflected his skill and reputation as a musician. His works include sonatas for violin and continuo, which were typical of the French Baroque style, characterized by elegant melodies and ornate embellishments. While there is limited information on the breadth of his compositions or specific albums that may have been released posthumously under his name, Exaudet's role in the evolution of French instrumental music during the 18th century remains a part of his legacy.
