America is a British-American rock band formed in London in 1970 by Dewey Bunnell, Dan Peek, and Gerry Beckley. The trio met as sons of U.S. Air Force personnel stationed in London, where they began performing together. America achieved significant popularity in the 1970s with a string of hit singles and albums. Their self-titled debut album "America," released in 1971, included the transatlantic hits "A Horse with No Name" and "I Need You." The band's harmonious folk-rock sound and insightful lyrics resonated with audiences, leading to their winning the Grammy Award for Best New Artist in 1973.
