Amanda Shires is an American singer-songwriter and violinist with a career that spans several genres, including Americana, folk, and country music. Born on March 5, 1982, in Lubbock, Texas, she began playing the violin at a young age and later became a member of the Texas Playboys, the backing band for Western swing legend Bob Wills. Shires has released several solo albums and is known for her evocative songwriting and distinctive fiddle playing. In addition to her solo work, she is a member of the country supergroup The Highwomen, alongside Brandi Carlile, Maren Morris, and Natalie Hemby. Shires is also recognized for her collaborations with other artists, including her husband Jason Isbell, with whom she has frequently performed and recorded.
