Italian Baroque Lutenist and Composer

Alessandro Piccinini (1566 – ca. 1638) was an influential Italian lutenist and composer of the late Renaissance and early Baroque periods. Born into a musical family, he was known for his virtuosic playing and innovative techniques on the lute and the chitarrone, also known as the theorbo. Piccinini made significant contributions to the development of plucked string instruments of his time, and he is credited with improvements to both the lute and the chitarrone.
