Albert Dietrich

Albert Dietrich

Albert Hermann Dietrich (1829–1908) was a German composer and conductor, not to be confused with any contemporary artists or bands. He was a close friend of Johannes Brahms and a pupil of Robert Schumann. Dietrich is perhaps best known for his contribution to the collaborative F.A.E. Sonata, a work that also involved Brahms and Schumann. Each composer wrote a movement for the sonata, which was dedicated to the violinist Joseph Joachim. Dietrich composed the substantial first movement of this sonata.
