The Velvet Underground album should be in every music lover's collection by now. Those who don't have any Velvet Underground albums yet can finally fill that gap by purchasing this new "Collected" collection. This group, represented by songwriters and recording artists Lou Reed and John Cale, has influenced generations of rock musicians and bands. In the 1970s and early 1980s, the cult status of the band, briefly led by Andy Warhol, reached extraordinary proportions. The Velvet Underground were a true punk band a decade before the then still relatively young genre of punk was created, in terms of the lifestyle they led, drug consumption and prevailing "attitude". Musically, however, it's hard to pigeonhole them as punk music. With songs like "Heroin", "I'm Waiting For The Man" and "White Light / White Heat" they created a new definition of rock'n'roll. This compilation consists of two LPs with a total of 23 songs, including the aforementioned classic "I'm Waiting For The Man". The album also includes "What Goes On", "Pale Blue Eyes", "Venus In Furs" and many other songs by this band that has made a significant mark in music history.
