Blues-rock heroes The Black Keys will release their tenth studio album "Delta Kream" on May 14, 2021 via Nonesuch Records. The record commemorates the band's roots and features eleven Mississippi country blues standards they loved as teenagers before they became a band, including songs by R.L. Burnside and Junior Kimbrough. Dan Auerbach and Patrick Carney recorded "Delta Kream" at Auerbach's Easy Eye Sound studio in Nashville; they were assisted by musicians Kenny Brown and Eric Deaton, longtime members of bands featuring blues legends such as R. L. Burnside and Junior Kimbrough. The album's title is derived from William Eggleston's iconic photograph of the Mississippi, which appears on the cover. Auerbach says of the album, "We made this record in honor of the Mississippi hill country blues tradition that influenced us in our early days. These songs are as important to us today as they were the day Pat and I first started playing and picked up instruments. It was a very inspiring session where Pat and I sat in a circle with Kenny Brown and Eric Deaton and played these songs. It was so natural." Carney agrees, "The session was planned just a few days in advance and nothing was rehearsed. We recorded the whole album in about ten hours, in two afternoons, at the end of the Let's Rock tour."
