This 2 LP compilation is a selection of Status Quo's hits from throughout the era, which includes the original mono recordings of Pictures Of Matchstick Men, Ice In The Sun, I (Who Have Nothing) by The Spectres and Almost But Not Quite There by Traffic Jam. Status Quo, which previously went by the names The Spectres, Traffic or even Traffic Jam, was originally formed by Alan Lancaster (bass) and Francis Rossi (guitar) in South London. Their first hit Pictures of Matchstick Men was released in 1968 and was soon followed by their debut album. The following years brought Status Quo a string of other big hits, including Mean Girl, Down Down, Rockin' All Over the World, The Wanderer, In The Army Now and Roll Over Lay Down (Live), which conquered the charts in several countries. Their unmistakable style of heavy rock rhythms combined with simple guitar chords and clear lyrics has earned them a huge and loyal fan base to this day.
