Soulful and elegant pianist Sonny Clark brings his best playing to My Conception, a program composed entirely of Clark's originals recorded in 1959 but not released until 1979. The pianists include such hard-bop masters as Hank Mobley on tenor sax, Donald Byrd on trumpet, Paul Chambers on bass and Art Blakey on drums. Highlights of this session include the opening track "Junka", the fiery brilliance of "Minor Meeting" and Hank Mobley's great solo on "Royal Flush". The Tone Poet audiophile vinyl reissue series from Blue Note Records, produced by Joe Harley, features pure analog master tapes mastered from the original, audiophile 180g vinyl reissues in deluxe packaging. Mastering was done by Kevin Gray (Cohearent Audio) and the vinyl was produced by Record Technology Incorporated (RTI).
