Down to Earth is the eleventh studio album by Ozzy Osbourne , released on October 9, 2001. The album was produced by Osbourne and Rick Rubin and was recorded at Osbourne's home studio, The Bunker. It is Osbourne's first album since leaving the tour in 1999 and his first album of new material since 1995's Ozzmosis. Down to Earth was met with mixed reviews from music critics. Stephen Thomas Erlewine of AllMusic gave the album three stars out of five, stating that "Down to Earth is not a great album, but it is a good one and proves that Osbourne still has something to offer". Don Kaye of Blabbermouth.net rated the album positively, stating that "Down to Earth is a triumphant return to form for Prince of Darkness". The album debuted at number four on the Billboard 200 chart and sold over 122,000 copies in its first week of release. On November 13, 2001, it was certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) and has since gone platinum.
