The album "Pangaea" and its predecessor "Agharta" were recorded on February 1, 1975 at Festival Hall in Osaka, Japan. The "Agharta" concert was held during an afternoon matinee, while "Pangaea" was recorded in the evening. The band: Sonny Fortune, saxophone, Pete Cosey (who also played synthesizer) and Reggie Lucas on guitars, Michael Henderson on bass, Al Foster on drums, James "Mtume" Foreman on percussion, and Miles Davis on trumpet and organ. There are only two stunning epic tracks on the record, which last almost two hours: "Zimbabwe" and "Gondwana" offer listeners a very unique and primitive form of "Afro Futurism", a kind of jazz-funk that only Miles Davis can deliver.
