Supernature is the third studio album by English electronic duo Goldfrapp , released on 11 July 2005 by Mute Records. The album was produced by the duo with Nick Batt and features guest appearances by Will Gregory's brother Andrew Gregory and former bandmate Alison Goldfrapp of The Felt Mountain Lisa Gerrard. The album was recorded in late 2004/early 2005 at Air Studios in London. The music on the album is a departure from the band's previous work, which was more folky and orchestral. Supernature is a synth-pop and electronic album that incorporates influences of disco, house and techno. The album's lyrical content is inspired by the works of science fiction writer Philip K. Dick and thematically revolves around the idea of human dependence on technology and the supernatural nature. The album Supernature was a commercial success, reaching number two on the UK Albums Chart and number eleven on the US Billboard 200. The album was well received by music critics, who praised its production and Goldfrapp's vocal performances . The album received a gold certificate from the British Phonographic Industry (BPI) and was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Music Album of the Year.
