Re-release of the breakthrough second album of the promising Belarusian post-punk/synthpop band. The second album by Belarusian trio Molchat Doma, Etazhi, which means "floors", was first released in 2018 on Berlin-based Detriti Records. It became a viral hit, garnered over a million views on YouTube and became a real phenomenon on Bandcamp. The band may be under the radar in their native Belarus, but they have gained a huge following in Europe and beyond. Six different vinyl pressings of the album sold out in quick succession and Sacred Bones Records is now pleased to bring the record back to the market. Formed in 2017 in Minsk, Belarus, the band Molchat Doma (translated as "Houses are silent") stands at the intersection of post-punk, new-wave and synth-pop. Their music is somber yet danceable, with a heavy dose of gothic ethos, reminiscent of the masters before them, but make no mistake: Molchat Doma creates a sound and meaning that is instantly recognizable as their own. The band consists of Egor Shkutko, who sings Russian lyrics in his deep monotone, Roman Komogortsev on guitar, synths and drum machine, and Pavel Kozlov on bass and synths.
