Nearly 30 years ago, in April 1985, Clapton released the eponymous single from his album "Behind The Sun," which had been released the previous month. Now, on his 70th birthday and 50th year on the scene, Eric Clapton has titled his anniversary album "Forever Man": it's his way of expressing his eternal love of music - and thanking his fans for their loyalty. Forever. The concept of Eric Clapton's album "Forever Man" is clearly divided into three parts: the first CD contains studio recordings, the second CD presents live recordings and on the third CD he devotes himself entirely to his love of the blues. Clapton thus looks back on more than four decades of his work. "Cocaine" and "Layla" in live versions, "Tears In Heaven" and "My Father's Eyes" are all-time hits and classics of Clapton's repertoire. On the retrospective album "Forever Man," Eric Clapton pays detailed tribute to his musical role model and longtime friend J.J. Cale, who died in 2013, including the song "Call Me The Breeze." Clapton's big hits "Cocaine" and "After Midnight" are - like "Call Me The Breeze" - Cale covers. On "Forever Man," he performs "Anyway The Wind Blows," a song they once recorded together on "The Road To Escondido," as well as "Sportin' Life Blues" (on a blues CD) with J.J. Cale. Eric Clapton looks back fondly with "Forever Man." He shows us which of his songs are close to his heart, and he consciously chooses what to present live and what to present as a studio recording.
